BPS Dentures in Hyderabad — Biofunctional Prosthetic System by a Leading Prosthodontist

Toothway Dental in Gachibowli provides BPS (Biofunctional Prosthetic System) dentures
— the most scientifically advanced full denture system available — through Dr. Varun S. Ahuja,
one of Hyderabad’s leading BPS prosthodontists. Superior fit, function and comfort compared
to conventional dentures. Implant-retained BPS options also available

What Is the Biofunctional Prosthetic System (BPS)?

The Biofunctional Prosthetic System — BPS — is a complete denture fabrication protocol developed by Ivoclar Vivadent, representing the global standard for precision full denture construction. It is not simply a better material — it is an entirely different clinical and laboratory process.

BPS dentures are distinguished by three core elements:

  • Biofunctional teeth (SR Phonares) — designed to mimic natural tooth anatomy in both form and function, producing better chewing efficiency and more natural aesthetics
  • Biometric positioning — teeth positioned using a standardised, patient-specific method based on anatomical landmarks rather than general approximation
  • Ivocap injection moulding — the denture base fabricated under controlled injection pressure, producing a denser, more dimensionally stable base with significantly better fit than conventional compression moulding

The result is a denture that fits more precisely, functions more effectively, lasts longer, and looks more natural than any conventional denture — not because of marketing, but because of a demonstrably superior fabrication process.

BPS Dentures vs Conventional Dentures — A Genuine Comparison

Factor BPS Dentures Conventional Dentures
Fabrication process Ivocap injection moulding under controlled pressure — dense, precise Compression moulding — variable fit, porosity
Fit accuracy Superior — injection moulding eliminates shrinkage distortion Acceptable — but dimensional changes during curing reduce fit
Tooth design SR Phonares — biofunctional, mimics natural tooth anatomy Standard acrylic teeth — functional but less anatomical
Tooth positioning Biometric landmarks — patient-specific, not approximated Conventional average positioning — individual variation ignored
Chewing function Measurably superior — biofunctional occlusion design Adequate for basic function
Aesthetics More natural — tooth form and colour matched precisely Standard appearance — limited customisation
Durability Higher — injection-moulded base is denser and more wear-resistant Standard — porosity increases bacterial colonisation over time
Suitability with implants Excellent — BPS dentures can be implant-retained for maximum stability Possible but fit issues compound instability

Your BPS Denture Journey at Toothway Dental — Step by Step

1

Consultation & Assessment

Dr. Varun S. Ahuja conducts a comprehensive examination of your oral tissues, jaw relationship and aesthetic goals. Existing dentures (if any) are assessed. Your specific functional and aesthetic requirements are discussed in detail.

2

Impressions & Records

Precise impressions of the upper and lower ridges are taken using the BPS protocol — including primary impressions, custom tray fabrication and final impressions. Bite registration, jaw relationship and aesthetic measurements are recorded.

3

Try-In

A wax try-in of the denture with the SR Phonares teeth is placed in the mouth. You and Dr. Varun assess the fit, comfort, appearance, speech and bite before any permanent material is used. Adjustments are made at this stage.

4

Ivocap Processing

The approved try-in is sent to the laboratory where the Ivocap injection moulding process produces the final denture base — denser, more precise and more stable than compression-moulded alternatives.

5

Fitting & Adjustment

The finished BPS denture is fitted. Minor adjustments to the fit and occlusion are made at the fitting appointment and at review visits over the following weeks. BPS dentures typically require fewer adjustments than conventional dentures due to their superior initial fit.

6

Review & Aftercare

Follow-up appointments assess fit, function and tissue health. Annual check-ups recommended to monitor denture fit as the underlying bone and tissue change over time.

BPS Dentures FAQs — Answered by Dr. Varun S. Ahuja

What is BPS (Biofunctional Prosthetic System)?
BPS is the global standard complete denture fabrication protocol by Ivoclar Vivadent — using biofunctional SR Phonares teeth, biometric positioning, and Ivocap injection moulding. The result is superior fit, function, aesthetics and durability compared to conventional dentures.
How are BPS dentures different from conventional dentures?
Three key differences: Ivocap injection moulding produces a denser, more accurately fitting base; SR Phonares teeth mimic natural tooth anatomy for better chewing function; biometric tooth positioning is patient-specific, not approximated. Collectively, measurably better outcomes.
Who is suitable for BPS dentures?
Any patient requiring complete (full) dentures — upper, lower or both. Particularly beneficial for patients who have had difficulty with conventional dentures, who have significant bone resorption, or who require the best possible functional and aesthetic outcome. BPS dentures can also be implant-retained.
How long does BPS denture fabrication take?
The BPS process typically requires 5 to 6 appointments over 4 to 6 weeks — more appointments than conventional dentures, reflecting the greater precision of the protocol. The additional time produces a significantly better result.
What is the cost of BPS dentures in Hyderabad?
BPS denture cost at Toothway Dental in Gachibowli depends on whether one or both arches require dentures and any additional procedures required. A personalised estimate is provided at consultation. No-Cost EMI at 0% interest is available.
Can BPS dentures be combined with dental implants?
Yes — BPS dentures can be implant-retained using 2 to 4 implants that anchor the denture firmly in place. This eliminates the instability of conventional dentures and dramatically improves chewing function and confidence. Our prosthodontist and implantologist work together on combined implant-retained BPS cases.
How long do BPS dentures last?
With proper care, BPS dentures typically last 5 to 8 years before replacement is needed — longer than conventional dentures due to the denser, more wear-resistant Ivocap base material. Annual review appointments allow the fit to be assessed and adjusted as the underlying bone changes.
